Be diligent and hardworking, Sanwo-Olu tasks corpers
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has implored all Youth-Corpers posted to the State to be diligent, hardworking and selfless in the service to their fatherland, assuring that they won’t go unrewarded.
Sanwo-Olu gave the charge during the close of the 2019 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Camp for Corps members at the NYSC Camp, Iyana-Ipaja.
Represented at the occasion by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Mr. Yusuph Jimoh, the Governor maintained that Lagos has a tradition of rewarding excellent performance by outstanding Corp Members in the State, stressing that this year won’t be any different.
On the issue of providing the enabling environment for optimum performance, the Governor said “I want to assure you that as a government, we will provide you with adequate security and welfare to make your period of service in Lagos eventful and also rewarding”.
Urging the Corp members to be innovative and to make the service year a memorable and rewarding one, he admonished them to continually strive for excellence, while consolidating on various skills that have been learnt.
“I, therefore, enjoin you to embark on the next phase of your National Service being innovative and think of ideas that would solve the problems of the communities you find yourselves within Lagos”, he said.
Noting that the major objective of the NYSC Scheme is to foster unity, peace and fast track development, Sanwo-Olu enjoined youth corp members to avoid and preach against hate speeches as well as other divisive tendencies capable of provoking unrest and disturbing the peace of the country.
Responding, the Lagos State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Sunday Aroni expressed his appreciation to the State Government for its support and invaluable assistance to the scheme, urging corps members to take their primary assignment in good faith.
