Osimhen's Equalizer Saves Nigeria in Rainy Clash Against Benin Republic

Our reporter

In a dramatic AFCON qualifying match held under rainy conditions in Abidjan, Nigeria's Super Eagles managed to secure a 1-1 draw against Benin Republic, thanks to Victor Osimhen's second-half goal.

Despite an early lead by Benin, Osimhen's strike salvaged a point for Nigeria, maintaining their unbeaten streak in the qualifying round.

The match, characterised by slick turf and challenging weather, tested the skills and resilience of both teams. Benin Republic initially took the lead, putting Nigeria on the defensive.

However, Osimhen, known for his sharp instincts and clinical finishing, found the net in the second half to level the score and deny Benin a victory on home soil.

Nigeria had already secured their place in the upcoming AFCON tournament, allowing them to approach the game with less pressure. Their final qualifier will be against Rwanda, where they hope to cap off their successful qualifying campaign on a high note.
