The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), under the leadership of Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has once again brought pride to Nigeria with the victory of Corporal Juliet Chukwu, who emerged as the Bantamweight Champion at the Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC119) in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Chukwu’s stunning performance at this renowned event showcases not only her personal dedication but also the growing strength of Nigerian athletes on the world stage. Her victory in the fiercely competitive discipline of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) reflects the NPF’s ongoing commitment to excellence in sports, as well as its broader mission of organizational achievement.

IGP Egbetokun celebrated the victory, reinforcing the Force's determination to continue supporting its officers’ pursuit of excellence, particularly in sports. "We are committed to nurturing talent within the Nigeria Police Force, and Corporal Chukwu’s success is a testament to the potential that exists in our officers," Egbetokun said. "Her achievement is not just an individual triumph but a source of national pride that exemplifies the values we uphold."

The IGP further emphasised the NPF’s focus on strengthening its sports programs, particularly MMA, which has seen growing interest among officers. To this end, the Nigeria Police MMA Association has been officially established, and several initiatives such as the IGP MMA Open National Championship and the demonstration of MMA at the 14th Biennial Police Games (BIPOGA) in Oluyole in 2024 are set to bolster the sport's visibility and development within the Force.

Chukwu's victory at the EFC119 is the latest in a series of accomplishments by the NPF this year, which has seen improvements in crime control, personnel efficiency, and anti-corruption efforts.

The NPF continues to place a strong emphasis on holistic development, recognising that the growth of its officers in various fields, including sports, contributes to the overall success and integrity of the Force.
