Veteran Actress Bimbo Akintola Opens Up About Staying Unmarried at 54, Reflects on Love and Loss

Renowned Nollywood actress Bimbo Akintola has shared her reasons for remaining unmarried at the age of 54, revealing a deeply personal loss that has shaped her views on love and marriage.

In a candid conversation with fellow actor Emmanuel Ehumadu, Akintola explained that the reason she has not tied the knot is because her soulmate passed away.

“He died… I don’t talk about it much, but he’s gone. It took me a very long time to find him, and then I lost him,” she disclosed. Akintola went on to emphasize that for her, marriage is not something to be entered into lightly. She believes in the sanctity of vows and is unwilling to settle for a relationship that doesn't promise a lifelong commitment. “If you are not going to be truthful to your vows, then why are you doing it?” she added, reflecting on her reluctance to remarry simply for the sake of it.

Akintola acknowledged the complexities of marriage, saying, “Marriage is difficult, very difficult. And then to do it with someone you know you can’t do forever with? That’s something I’m not willing to stress myself over.”

Despite the heartbreak of losing her soulmate, the actress remains open to the idea of finding love again, even in her later years. “If I ever meet someone who I can see forever with, I’ll marry again—even if I’m 82,” she said, expressing her commitment to authenticity in relationships.

Bimbo Akintola’s acting career has spanned decades, with her breakout role in the 1995 film *Owo Blow* alongside Femi Adebayo, followed by her performance in *Out of Bounds* (1997) with Richard Mofe Damijo. Her talent has earned her accolades, including a nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the 2013 Nollywood Movies Awards.

Through her personal and professional journey, Akintola continues to inspire many, not just with her acting, but with her unapologetic approach to life and love.
