LP Candidate, Olumide Akpata, Outlines Plans to Put State on Sound Economic Footing

Benin City – Ahead of the forthcoming Edo Governorship election, Labour Party candidate Barrister Olumide Akpata has presented his vision for the State's economic revitalization. Speaking at the State Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Edo State, Benin City, Akpata emphasized the critical role journalists play in holding those accountable for the mismanagement of the country's resources.

During his address, Akpata urged journalists to remain vigilant and proactive in their investigative reporting. He highlighted the importance of their work in unearthing instances of corruption and inefficiency, which have plagued the nation’s economic stability.

"Journalists are essential in our fight against corruption. Their investigative prowess is vital in bringing to light those who have mismanaged our resources," Akpata stated. 

"A well-informed public is crucial for the development and prosperity of our State and country."

The Labour Party candidate detailed his plans to bolster Edo State’s economy, focusing on sustainable development, improved infrastructure, and creating an enabling environment for businesses. Akpata underscored the need for transparency and accountability in governance, promising reforms that would ensure prudent management of the state's resources.

"We have a clear plan to put Edo State on a sound economic footing," Akpata said. "This includes investments in infrastructure, education, and healthcare, which are the bedrocks of a thriving economy. By ensuring transparency and accountability, we can attract investments and create jobs for our youth."
