Ohanaeze Youth Urges Governor Otti To Intervene In Military Intimidation Of Innocent Civilians In Abia
The Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) has written an open letter to Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, requesting his prompt intervention in the intimidation, maltreatment, and illegal arrest of innocent citizens by the Nigerian military in Aba.
The letter, signed by Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, National President General, and Comrade Ifeanyi Nweke, Secretary General, condemned the killing of four Nigerian soldiers by unknown gunmen and urged the governor to use his executive powers to stop the military's illegal arrest and maltreatment of civilians.
The OYC appealed for the immediate release of those arrested on May 31, 2024, in Aba and Obingwa Local Government Areas and demanded that those involved in the killing of the soldiers be arrested and brought to justice.
The council expressed concern over the Nigerian military's tradition of unleashing their anger on innocent civilians and urged Governor Otti to ensure that this unprofessional attitude is not allowed to continue in his administration.
The Ohanaeze Youth Council's appeal seeks to prevent further escalation of tension and civil unrest in Aba, Abia State.
