Rape: Archivong, Jaha apologise for controversial comments at plenary


Two members of the House of Representatives have apologized to Nigerian women for their comments during the debate on rape at plenary last week.

Henry Archibong rose under personal explanation regarding his representation on the floor of the House, affirming that he does not in any way support rape and supports any punishment to culprits.



Ahmed Jaha also rose under personal explanation to apologize to women and other Nigerians during plenary on the rape debate where he suggested death penalty for rapists, and that States should domesticate the anti-rape Acts.

He however apologized for adding that women should dress decently not to be raped.

He recognized that women have the right to dress according to their taste.
