COCID-19: FG to arraign supermarket, pharmaceutical owners over price hike

A Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday fixed June 25 for further hearing, on the arraignment of two supermarkets and two pharmacies charged for hiking the prices of key hygiene products amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

The companies were charged by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, for allegedly taking advantage of the COVID-19 outbreak in the country to increase the prices of face masks and hand sanitizers.

Justice Nkonye Maha adjourned the case after representatives of some of the
defendants could not make it to court due to the ban on interstate movement.
