Court sentences Uniport students to death over death of 8-year-old girl





A high Court in PortHarcourt has on Wednesday 13th May, 2020 sentenced a second-year student of Physics Department University of PortHarcourt Ifeanyi Dike and his cousin Ugochukwu Nwamira to death by hanging over the murder of an eight-year old girl, Victory Chukamso Nmezuwuba.
The duo was sentenced to death without option of fine. Ifeayi Dike is to hung on his neck until he dies while Ugochukwu Nwamira is to hung on his leg till he dies as well.

Ifeanyi Dike was arrested by the vigilante group in PortHarcourt in 2017 when he was in two hundred level. He was caught with the dismembered body of the little girl Victory Chukamso Nmezuwuba and subsequently taken to police station.
He (Dike) reportedly removed the victim's eyes, Vagina, Fingers, and Tongue, after defiling and murdered her with the assistance of his Cousin Ugochukwu.


Ifeanyi Dike initially escaped from the custody of State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) with the help of Sergeant Johnbosco Okoronze but later re-arrested in Jos Plateau State.
The Judge, Justice Adolphus Enebele while delivering the judgement also sentenced Sergeant Johnbosco Okoronze to one year imprisonment for aided the escape of the offender.
