COVID 19: Edo discharges 4 patients

The Management of Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital (ISTH) on Thursday day discharged four patients of the deadly corona virus popularly referred to as covid-19 from the hospital. This development came after the patients tested negative to the virus after weeks of  treatment at the hospital.
A staff of the hospital who choose not to be mentioned because of the bureaucracy in announcing such development in the country said that ISTH has been playing a major role in the fight against this pandemic both in
diagnosis, treatment, surveillance and Infection Prevention and Control in the country and is ready to do serve the country whenever the need arises.

The source further stated that though the patients have been okay for sometime but had to adhere to international best practices and the internal protocol that had been developed by the hospital before discharging the patients

ISTH was designated as centre of excellence for the diagnosis and management of lassa fever in 2009 by the federal government of Nigeria and has lived up to expectation especially during the outbreak of the deadly ebola virus in Nigeria in particular and  Africa at large.

A team of volunteers are currently working closely with the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to mitigate the covid-19 pandemic in Nigeria.
