COVID-19 claims the soul of Nigeria's Chief of Staff- Abba Kyari

The chief of staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Aba Kyari has died. A tweet from Femi Adesina, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity announed on Saturday.

According to Adesina: “Funeral arrangements to be announced soon,”.

The Guardian Newspaper reports that, Kyari was suspected to have contracted the novel coronavirus when he visited Germany in early March multiple sources said. The presidency did not deny or confirm the rumours at the time.

It was only after his death that Garba Shehu,Presidential spokesman confirmed that Kyari had died of coronavirus.

“The deceased had tested positive to the ravaging COVID-19, and had been receiving treatment,” Shehu said.


Abba Kyari will be buried later today in Abuja according Islamic rites.
