June 12: LG Chairman praises Buhari, eulogies MKO Abiola



As Nigerians prepare to celebrate June 12 as Democracy Day tomorrow Wednesday after the bill had been passed by the Eighth
 National Assembly and ascented to by the President on Monday, the Executive Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye LG Area of Lagos State, Apostle Oloruntoba Oke, has described  President Mohammadu Buhari, as a true democrat and leader, whose legacies at enthroning enduring good virtues and governance would remain indelible.

He said by endorsing June 12 as Democracy Day in Nigeria, the President has healed the wounds inflicted on millions of  electorate who defied the heavy downpour on that fateful day to vote their choice, Chief MKO Abiola, on 12 June, 1993 General Elections but later had their wishes truncated when the  results of the fairest and freest  elections in the anals of Nigeria's political history which put MKO Abiola in a comfortable lead, was  cancelled by the then  head of the Military junta.

On the late acclaimed winner of the June 12 General Elections, Chief MKO Abiola, the council boss said" he remains our Prime Symbol of Democracy"  adding that the late  politician cum business mogul was a pillar of sports not only in  Nigeria but also in Africa.

He further described him  as a great man with caring hearts, giving to philanthropic activities , who gave hope and  succour to less privileged across Nigeria.

Oke, lauded the noble roles played by the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress  (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as the rallying point for all the June 12 Activists and other Democrats, saying that "afterall their labour is not in vain as the true democracy they all fought for has over the years gained tremendous grounds", he noted.
