STRANDED
A visit to Auchi community by this blog this morning reveals that some students of Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, are presently stranded in the town occasioned by the inability of the Automated Teller Machines (ATMs), attached to various banks in the community to dispense cash to customers.
Most of the students were seen in long queues in an attempt to withdraw cash to enable them travel for the holiday.
Linda, surname (withheld) a student of Science Laboratory Technology who spoke to this blog on the matter said that the situation is really annoying. According to her: "Since on Friday afternoon that I came to GTbank here to withdraw money so that I can travel home for the holiday, I have not been able to do so because the ATM is short of funds. That's why I had to leave my house very early this morning, but unfortunately it's the same story. I don't know what's happening."
Andrew, a final year Higher National Diplomal of the institution who just concluded his project has this to say: "Withdrawing money from banks is now Herculean task these days. For over 2hours now I have been standing on this queue just to withdraw my money. The authorities should try and help us, because thr way these banks are treating us is not good."
Efforts by this blog to get comment from Auchi GTbank manager proved abortive as calls made to his mobile phone number didn't go through.
