Man Arrested for Stabbing Wife and Inflicting Burns in Ogun State

A man, Sholola Kazeem, has been arrested by the police in Ogun State after allegedly stabbing his wife, Sholola Mutiat, and pouring hot oil over her in a brutal act of domestic violence.

The incident occurred in the Owode Egba area, where the suspect reportedly became enraged during a domestic dispute. Kazeem,  who was said to be angered by a misunderstanding, is accused of assaulting his wife by both stabbing her in the head and dousing her body with scalding oil, causing severe burns.



The matter was swiftly reported to the Owode Police Division, where the Divisional Police Officer's prompt intervention led to Kazeem's arrest. According to CSP Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, the suspect has been charged with assault and causing harm under the law.

“The victim has been taken to Ore Ofé Hospital for urgent medical treatment,” CSP Odutola confirmed in a statement. “The crime scene has been thoroughly examined, and the suspect remains under investigation."

Police officials assured the public that further updates on the case would be released as the investigation continues. The incident is the latest in a troubling rise of gender-based violence in the State, causing concerns for women's safety.

The authorities have urged citizens to report any similar cases promptly, as efforts continue to combat violence within homes.
