"Not All Leaders Are Made by God, Satan Can Also Shape Leadership"- Ex-Nigerian leader, Obasanjo breaks silence
Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has expressed his skepticism about the widely held belief that all leaders are divinely chosen. Speaking during an interactive Zoom session titled "Boiling Point Arena" on Sunday, December 8, Obasanjo argued that leadership could also be influenced by satanic forces.
The
statesman, in response to a question about whether he considered himself an accidental
leader, stressed that while many leaders are prepared and placed by God, some
rise to power through other means.
"I
don’t accept that all leaders are made by God," Obasanjo declared. "A
leader can also be made by Satan. If you look at the story of Job in the Bible,
you’ll see that Satan wields real power, though without salvation. His
influence in leadership cannot be underestimated."
Shifting
focus to corruption, Obasanjo described it as a deeply entrenched societal
problem in Nigeria, likening it to a babariga—a flowing traditional garment
difficult to manage.
"Corruption
is hydra-headed," he said. "It’s like trying to fold a babariga—while
you manage one side, the other falls apart. For the fight against corruption to
succeed, it must begin with leadership and be sustained over time. It’s not a
battle for one administration or even two; it requires relentless effort."
