Our reporter
The Edo
State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has begun disbursing refunds to pilgrims
who participated in the 2023 Hajj exercise, following directives from the
National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
The refund
compensates pilgrims for services that were not rendered during their time in
Saudi Arabia.
Speaking on
the development, the Board’s Executive Secretary, Alhaji Eranga Muhammadkabir
Abdulkabir, confirmed that disbursement had commenced. He explained that the
reimbursement is in line with NAHCON's mandate to ensure transparency and
fairness in managing Hajj operations.
A total of
428 Edo State pilgrims are expected to receive refunds amounting to Saudi Riyal
64,200, which is equivalent to ₦26,142,240. The Board has urged affected
pilgrims to submit their account details promptly via WhatsApp to the
Accountant at 07039154177 or the ICT representative at 08034978677 to
facilitate payments.
Additionally,
Alhaji Eranga revealed that the Board has initiated a sensitisation campaign to
educate prospective pilgrims about the 2025 Hajj. He emphasised the importance
of early registration and payment to meet the January 2025 deadline set by
NAHCON.
The Edo
State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board remains committed to supporting the
spiritual and logistical needs of its pilgrims while maintaining accountability
in its operations.
