Charilove Foundation Mourns the Passing of Visionary Founder, Brother Chris Omusi

The
Charilove Foundation, also known as Project Charilove, has announced the death
of its Founder and Servant Leader, Brother Chris Omusi, an esteemed advocate
for the less privileged and physically challenged in Edo State.
A press
statement released to Uptown Press on Friday, 20th December 2024, by Professor
Chris Ugolo and Brother Chika Nwokoye, on behalf of the organisation's Boards,
confirmed that Brother Omusi passed away on Thursday, 28th November 2024,
following a brief illness at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital.
Brother
Omusi, widely celebrated for his unwavering dedication to humanitarian service,
was laid to rest on 29th November 2024 at the Charilove Centre on Sapele Road,
Benin City.
The Board
revealed that the decision to inter him at the Centre was made in consultation
with his immediate family, honouring his lifelong commitment to the charitable
mission he spearheaded for over three decades.
In their
statement, the organisation paid glowing tribute to Brother Omusi’s legacy,
describing him as “an icon of selfless service” who provided food, shelter, and
hope to the homeless, abandoned children, and physically challenged individuals
across Edo State. His passing, they noted, marks the end of an era that
transformed countless lives through his visionary leadership.
The
Foundation has issued a heartfelt appeal to the Edo State Government,
philanthropists, and well-meaning individuals to ensure the sustainability of
the charitable programmes and initiatives established by Brother Omusi.
"This
is the time to support the hundreds of helpless children and beneficiaries at
the Charilove Centre,” the statement read.
Charilove
Foundation, an integrated rehabilitation centre dedicated to uplifting the less
privileged, remains open to visits and tours of its facilities as it continues
its mission to serve humanity despite the loss of its leader.
With Brother
Chris Omusi’s passing, the Charilove Foundation faces the challenge of carrying
forward his vision and ensuring that his legacy of compassion and support for
society's most vulnerable lives on.
