Bauchi Governor Urges President Tinubu to Address Cabinet Challenges

Our reporter

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has called on President Bola Tinubu to consider removing certain members from his cabinet, describing them as "excess baggage" that are hindering his administration's progress.

Governor Mohammed, who also chairs the PDP Governors’ Forum, expressed his confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership, but highlighted concerns that the actions of some cabinet members are working against the President's efforts to move the country forward.

While speaking as the special guest at the commissioning of the 14.1km Umuakali-Eberi Road in Rivers State, Governor Mohammed emphasized the importance of focusing on governance over political squabbles. He suggested that for the country to achieve its full potential, the President must act decisively and address the issues within his team.

"We need to throw away the excess baggage," Governor Mohammed said, underscoring the need for reform within the administration.

Governor Mohammed also took time to praise Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, for his leadership amidst the political turbulence in the state. He commended Fubara's ability to manage the political crisis and deliver on good governance despite challenges. The Bauchi Governor noted that the Rivers Governor had proven his leadership qualities, particularly his maturity and calmness during times of crisis.

Referring to Governor Fubara’s performance, Governor Mohammed stated, “By what I’ve seen, I no longer have any worries about his leadership or the perception of his administration." He also pointed out that political maturity is not solely defined by length of service but by the ability to manage challenges effectively.

Governor Mohammed advised his fellow politicians to recognize the importance of stepping aside when necessary to allow the younger generation to lead, praising Fubara for demonstrating leadership qualities that were beyond his years.

He further expressed his confidence in Fubara’s potential to secure a second term in office, urging the people of Rivers State to support his continued leadership.

In his speech, Governor Fubara expressed deep appreciation to the people of Omuma Local Government Area for their steadfast support, particularly during difficult political times. He attributed the success of his administration to the collaborative effort of the people and key political figures who have backed his leadership.
