During a thanksgiving service held at the Government House Chapel in Benin, the outgoing governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, urged the people of Edo to rally behind the incoming administration of Senator Monday Okpebholo.

Obaseki emphasised that his tenure’s achievements were made possible by the support of Edo’s residents, and encouraged them to extend the same goodwill to the incoming leadership for continued progress.

Speaking on Sunday, Obaseki reflected on his two-term journey as governor, expressing gratitude to God and the people of Edo for their dedication to the state's advancement.

"As governor and a father to this state, I am humbled and grateful," he remarked. "Our achievements in Edo have been a shared endeavor, and I urge you to continue this spirit of unity and support as we welcome a new administration."

Obaseki dedicated the newly renovated Government House Chapel, envisioning it as a symbol of Edo's resilience and faith. He highlighted the chapel’s role in fostering the unity, spirituality, and enduring legacy of the state. "This chapel stands as a testimony to our belief in a brighter future," he noted, "and a reminder of the good we can achieve together for Edo and for Nigeria."

Reflecting on his tenure, Obaseki acknowledged the contributions of Edo’s citizens in realizing impactful projects across the state.

"To the people of Edo State, I extend my deepest gratitude," he said, "Your commitment and support have fueled our drive to transform Edo, and it is because of you that we have built a state to be proud of."

With a renewed call for cooperation, Obaseki underscored the importance of a smooth transition, urging Edo’s residents to maintain their commitment to growth and unity.

"Let us continue working hand in hand toward a prosperous future," he concluded, "for Edo and for our nation."

The dedication ceremony was attended by government officials, community leaders, and residents, who joined Obaseki in celebrating his administration’s accomplishments and praying for the incoming leadership’s success.
