Gov. Fubara Donates N200 Million to Support OPM’s Humanitarian Efforts at Cleric's 51st Birthday Celebration
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has donated N200 million to bolster the humanitarian initiatives of Omega Power Ministries (OPM), led by renowned cleric Pastor Chibuzor Chinyere.
This contribution was announced during a special
thanksgiving service held in Port Harcourt to mark Pastor Chinyere’s 51st
birthday.
The governor praised Pastor Chinyere's ongoing efforts in
alleviating poverty and providing essential services to underserved
communities, including education, healthcare, job creation, and housing. “Life
is not about taking but about giving,” Gov. Fubara stated, referencing biblical
principles on the blessings of generosity.
He acknowledged that Chinyere’s charitable initiatives have
helped sustain services, especially in education, where many government
institutions struggle.
Pastor Chinyere expressed gratitude to Fubara and other
supporters for their contributions to OPM’s projects. He noted that the
church’s resources, including tithe and offerings, are used entirely for
charity, citing the establishment of 36 free schools nationwide, a technical
college for girls, and a school for autistic children as examples.
These schools are funded by the church to provide quality
education that many public institutions cannot afford.
Former Nigerian First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, also
attended the event and extended her congratulations to Pastor Chinyere,
describing him as a blessing to the people of Rivers State and beyond.
She urged the congregation to continue praying for peace and
progress in Rivers and throughout Nigeria.
In attendance were representatives from across the country,
including Gov. Alex Otti of Abia State, represented by Chief of Staff Mr. Celeb
Adagba, as well as former Senate President Adolphus Wabara and other
dignitaries.
