CPN Inducts 21 Graduates of Wellspring University into Computing Profession

 21 graduates from Wellspring University in Benin City have been inducted into the computing profession by the Computer Professional Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN).

The event, held on Thursday, marked the first-ever induction of graduates from the institution, signifying a major milestone for the university.

 

The graduates, who completed Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, and Information Technology, as well as Master's degrees in related fields, have now formally transitioned from students to certified professionals.

The induction ceremony, a significant step in their professional journey, underscores the growing importance of ethical conduct, continuous learning, and innovation in the tech sector.

 

Speaking at the event, the Registrar of CPN, Muhammed Aliyu, who was represented by Mrs. Elizabeth Adekunle, the Graduates Induction Coordinator, lauded the university for its efforts in nurturing solution providers in an era of rapid technological advancement.

He stressed the importance of the graduates upholding high ethical standards and dedicating themselves to lifelong learning in the ever-evolving field of computing.

 

"The world is moving at an unprecedented pace, and it is essential that these graduates continue to sharpen their skills and knowledge," Aliyu said.

He also praised Wellspring University for aligning its curriculum with the needs of the African continent and preparing graduates to tackle contemporary challenges.

 

Wellspring University's Vice Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Rotimi Ajayi, hailed the induction as both historic and educative. He charged the newly inducted professionals to leverage the advantages conferred by their certification, positioning themselves as leaders in the technology space.

Ajayi stressed the university’s commitment to providing students with exposure to cutting-edge technology and professional skills development.

 

"As a technology-compliant institution, we ensure that our students are well-equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in the modern world," said Ajayi.

 

Prof. Dipo Akomolafe, Dean of the College of Science and Computing, reinforced the significance of the event, noting that it was a realization of the university's vision to professionalise all courses within the Department of Computing.

He highlighted the competitive edge the induction provides, setting the graduates apart from their peers globally.

 

Dr. Tosin Olayinka, Head of the Department of Computing, provided an overview of the maiden induction, revealing that 18 undergraduates, two postgraduates, and one member of staff were part of the group being inducted.

 

During the induction lecture, Prof. Veronica Osubor from the University of Benin provided insights on building a successful career in computing.

She urged the inductees to cultivate skills in teamwork, problem-solving, analytical thinking, and networking to thrive in the industry.
