Labour Party Launches Edo State Governorship Campaign with Barrister Olumide Akpata

Benin City- The Labour Party officially kicked off its 2024 Edo State Governorship elections campaign on Saturday with an event that drew party leaders, supporters, and dignitaries. 

The party's gubernatorial candidate, Barrister Olumide Akpata, and his running mate, Alhaji Yusuf Kadiri, led the campaign, which began at the Labour Party Gubernatorial Candidate Campaign Secretariat.

Peter Obi, the Labour Party Presidential candidate in the 2023 Presidential election, was a keynote speaker at the launch. 

Addressing the mammoth crowd, Obi emphasized the campaign's mission to connect with the people of Edo State and spread a message of hope and transformation for a new Nigeria. "Our campaign in Edo State aims to connect with the people and spread our message of hope and transformation for a new Nigeria," Obi stated.

Following the kick-off, the campaign made a significant stop at the Palace of the Oba of Benin. Here, the Labour Party team sought royal blessings for a free, fair, and credible election. 

The visit also served as a reaffirmation of the party's commitment to the welfare and prosperity of Edo State.

Barrister Olumide Akpata, in his passionate address, promised transformative changes for the State. "Under a Labour Party-led administration, the dreams of Edolites will no longer be deferred. We will be the unstoppable force that shatters the shackles of stagnation and ushers in an era of unprecedented growth and empowerment," Akpata declared. 

"Edo, the time is now! The Labour Party campaign train has arrived, and we are coming to a city, town, or community near you!"

The launch event saw attendance from several political heavyweights and party stalwarts. Among them were the National leadership of the Party, distinguished Senators Neda Imasuen, Victor Umeh, Chief Kelvin Chukwu, and Dr. Tony Nwoye, along with numerous Labour Party members and well-wishers.

The Labour Party's campaign launch in Edo State marks the beginning of an intensive drive to garner support and connect with voters across the State. 

The party's leadership expressed optimism and a strong commitment to bringing about meaningful change and development in Edo State.
