Edo State PDP Expels Chief Dan Orbih, Rt Hon Phillip Shaibu, and Hon Ogbeide Ihama for Anti-Party Activities

Benin City- The Edo State People's Democratic Party (PDP) State Working Committee (SWC) has announced the immediate expulsion of Chief Dan Orbih, Rt Hon Phillip Shaibu, and Hon Ogbeide Ihama from the party due to their involvement in anti-party activities.

The decision was made during an extensive meeting held today at the PDP state secretariat along Airport Road, Benin City. 

The meeting, which focused primarily on addressing the recent surge in anti-party activities, saw the attendance of nine SWC members, including Mr. Tony Anenih Jnr, who participated via Zoom.

Chief Dan Orbih, who serves as the PDP South South Vice Chairman, was criticized for actions that allegedly betrayed the party’s trust. The SWC described his behavior as emblematic of a "party betrayer" and accused him of maintaining dual allegiances—comparing his actions to “the hand of Esau and the voice of Jacob.” 

The committee asserted that while similar conduct may have been tolerated by former Governor Wike, it would not be accepted in Edo State.

Rt Hon Phillip Shaibu, the former Deputy Governor of Edo State, was also expelled. Shaibu, previously removed from office for allegedly divulging state secrets and committing other related offenses, was found to be actively participating in anti-party activities. 

Hon Ogbeide Ihama, a former member of the House of Representatives, was similarly implicated and expelled.

The SWC members who attended the meeting were:

1. Dr. Tony Aziegbemi: Chairman

2. Harrison Omagbon: Vice Chairman

3. Bishop Anthony Okosun: State Vice Chairman, Central

4. Hon. Segun Saiki: State Vice Chairman, North

5. Barr. Arthur Esene: State Legal Adviser

6. ESV Fidel Ehi Igenegbale: State Financial Secretary

7. Oreye Destiny Ehigiator: State Youth Leader

8. Vasco Ogierogiemwan: State Publicity Secretary

9. Tony Anenih Jnr: State Organizing Secretary

Following thorough deliberations, the SWC concluded that the expulsion of Chief Dan Orbih, Rt Hon Phillip Shaibu, and Hon Ogbeide Ihama was necessary to maintain the party's integrity and discipline.
