Adaora takes over as first female GMD of Zenith Bank

Dr. Adaora Umeoji OON officially took on the role of the first female Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank PLC on June 1st, 2024.

Her appointment was announced earlier on March 19th, 2024 by Zenith Bank Plc, following the expiration of the term of the former GMD, Dr. Ebenezer Onyeagwu, on May 31, 2024.
Dr. Umeoji's appointment is in line with the bank's tradition of grooming leaders from within.
Prior to her new role, she had served as the Deputy Managing Director of the bank since October 28, 2016, bringing with her nearly 30 years of banking experience, with 26 of those years spent at Zenith Bank.
Dr. Umeoji holds degrees and certificates from prestigious institutions including Harvard Business School, Columbia Business School, University of Jos, Baze University, University of Salford, University of Calabar, and Apollos University.
Additionally, she has completed various management programs at renowned universities worldwide, including MIT Sloan School of Management and Wharton Business School in the USA.
