World Mathematics Tournament: Edo-Based Missionary School Makes Nigeria Proud, Tops 2nd Best In 33 Countries

Edo-based Baptist Mission School (BMS), has topped second best secondary school in the 2024 World Mathematics Tournament(WMT).


The fourth edition of the competition organised virtually by the Mathematics for Life Foundation for  Secondary/High school students globally, saw students from BMS, winning overall second position.

Ogun State-based missionary school, Welkin International schools, Atan-Ota, clinched the first position.

Nigeria was among the 33 countries while the two Nigerian schools were among the 590 secondary schools that participated in competition held virtually.

Mr. Kevin Okunzuwa, BMS PTA Vice Chairman,  lauded the award winning SS3 students, Victor Obaseki Christian and Daniel Noel Isuekevbo, for doing both their parents and school proud.

Okunzuwa called on government and stakeholders to invest more in the education sector, especially the capacity enhancement of teachers as well as providing conducive environment for the students to excel.

He urged BMS students to emulate Daniel and Christian's feat, who have brought glory, fame to themselves, their parents, school and Nigeria at large.
