3 suspected Yahoo boys gang-rape teenage girl at gun point

From Felix Mordi

The illusion that police operatives had been momentarily confined to their various formations following the #EndSARS protest and may not be able to attend to criminal acts in the society came as the greatest mistakes ever made by three young boys and are now in police custody.

The three suspects,  all in their early 20s, while cruising a Lexus ES 350 car, allegedly accosted a teenage girl on the street of Ilese-Ijebu in Ogun State, dragged her into the car and took her to Rationwa area  where they   took turns on her at gun point.

The suspects, Tunde Sadiq Taiwo, 22; Damilola Adesina, 20 and Adegoke Amos, 21 allegedly committed the crime on Saturday, December 5, 2020 following which the 18-year-old victim made formal complaint at the Ilese Police Division.

Confirming the incident in a press statement made available to Crime Puzzle, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi said: "On the strength of the report, the DPO Ilese Division, SP Yakubu Bala, mobilised his detectives, stormed their hideout and succeeded in the arrest of one of the suspects" stating further that the other two were subsequently nabbed.

According to the PPRO, the suspects owned up to the crime, thinking they could go away with it, based on their belief that police could not come after them.

His words: "On interogation, they confessed committing the crime, on the premise that police are no longer working, hence they can do anything they like but they were surprised when police came after them".

Oyeyemi added that the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for further investigation and prosecution.

The CP, according to the release, "also warned that those criminals who have that erroneous belief that police have been subdued, will meet their waterloo in no distance time".
