INEC Chairman reveals that Ondo election will be better than Edo
Mahmood Yakubu, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), said that 16 areas of improvement have been identified to make the forthcoming Ondo governorship election the best so far.
The Nation reports that he said the areas include logistics, prompt response to Smart Card Reader glitches, the menace of vote-buying during elections, and compliance with COVID-19 protocols.
He spoke at the INEC stakeholders meeting in Akure, the capital of Ondo state on Monday, October 5.
Yakubu noted that 58,229 viewers have been registered on its portal to vie live polling unit results as they are uploaded through the z-pad technology.
The INEC chairman said:
“In short, the commission is ready for the election. I have spent the last two days here in Ondo state evaluating our preparations and I am pleased with what I have seen.
“Our commitment is to ensure that the choice of who becomes the next governor of Ondo State is entirely in the hands of the voters. I wish to assure all eligible voters that every vote will count and only the choice made by the people of Ondo state will determine the outcome of the election.
