Edo 2020: Obaseki defects to PDP

From Chris Osa

The All Progressives Congress, APC political family has received with relief and joy, the breaking news that Godwin Obaseki has finally defected to the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, today.

This movement was long overdue, considering that as a Governor that was elected on the platform of APC, Obaseki has been consistent in his determination to undermine and weaken the structures and cohesiveness of our Party.

Obaseki worked for the opposition in the Presidential, National Assembly and State House of Assembly elections.

He deliberately lost his ward, Local Government and Senatorial district in the elections. He also provided financial support for opposition gubernatorial candidates in our neighbouring states.

Obaseki in defiance of the leadership of our Party, the National Assembly resolition and public opinion, denied 14 members-elect of our Party their constitutional right to be inaugurated into the State House of Assembly.

So, all members and critical stakeholders of APC are relieved that Godwin Obaseki has finally jumped ship, and in line with his character, betrayed our mandate. We reiterate that Obaseki's defection will enable us in the APC to refocus and reposition our Party, in preparation for the forthcoming election. We are fielding a candidate that will cure the years of Obaseki misrule.

That Obaseki did a 3 year degree program at the University of Ibadan with 3 o/level credits has not been disproved or refuted.

We in the APC will be watching with keen interest, how PDP intends to sanitize Obaseki's dodgy academic credentials to enable him get out of the attendant legal bobbytrap. It promises to be an interesting and eventful ride.
