Buhari restrains Minister from discipline, removes heads of agencies

President Mohammodu Buhari has restrains the cabinet Ministers from discipline and removal of heads of agencies and parastatals which they supervised.

Now in place is a multi-layered procedures which appears to strengthen the roles of Secretary to the Government of Federation in the disciplinary procedures.

In a circular dated 19th May,2020,and signed the Secretary to the Government of Federation, Boss Mustapha, it convey the "concern" of the government which restrains the tendency of some Ministers from arbitrarily discipline and removing the heads of the agencies and parastatals and its impacts on stability and service delivery.

The circular was despatched to all the Ministers and other Senior Officials including the Head of Service, Chief of Staff to the President, Central Bank Governor, Military Chiefs, Permanent Secretaries among others.

The SGF's circular has protect the Heads of Agencies from their superving Ministers' arbitrariness but may have created a hurdle of red-tapism which may delay or prevent sanction for abuses.
