We have commenced contact tracing of Confirmed Index Case- Edo Council boss

The Executive Chairman of Etsako Central Local Government Council, Edo State, Comrade John Osi Akhigbe has again appealed to the people to abide by the Stay at Home order stressing that Coronavirus is real as Disease Surveillance Notification Officer takes Contact Tracing to the residents of the confirmed index case in the Local Government Area.

The DSNO, Disease Surveillance Notification Officer has now traced 38 contacts to the confirmed patients - Twelve (12) people working with him, Twenty (20) members of his immediate family, Four (4) Staff of Comprehensive Health Centre Ugbekpe Ekperi, and Two (2) Staff of Ivhianake Primary Health Centre where the patient visited at the onset of his symptoms.

The Council Boss said in a statement that quarantine is very necessary at this time to know the infected persons especially in Ugbekpe Ekperi were the infected man was based as he has associated with people before he was confirmed positive. He said that the stay at home order and quarantine is not punitive rather it is to checkmate the spread of the virus.

According to him, prevention is not one person’s business, it is for everybody. Quick diagnosis of Covid-19 will allow proper management of the infested person which will ensure the recovery of the patient, he noted.

The people Oriented Chairman further disclosed that the virus does not move on its own rather people bring it to the community.  Therefore, Stay at Home order is the best way of preventing infested people from transmitting it.  He admonished the good people of Etsako Central to remain calm and vigilant and take precautionary measures seriously adding that this one (1) confirmed case will help the people in the Local Government Area to believe that Covid-19 exist and to adjust their life style accordingly. He urged the people to remain prayerful that God will definitely answer our prayers.

He Charged everyone in the Local Government Area to called the attention of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) if there is any person showing symptoms of the virus disease as the team are always ready for their responsibility.
