Osun will become one of the highest producers of honey in the world-Aregesola

Osogbo-Gov.
Rauf Aregbesola of Osun on Tuesday said the state has put mechanism in place to
make the state one of the highest producers of honey in the world.
Aregesola stated this in Osogbo while declaring
open a national beekeeping workshop organised by the National Board of
Technology Incubation (NBTI) in collaboration with the state Modern
Bee keeping Association
Speaking on behalf of the governor, the
Commissioner for Agric and Food Security, Mr Wale Adedoyin said
the state had established an Apiary in Ashi in Odo-otin Local Government Area of the state in
order to boost honey production.
Adedoyin
added that industrial grade honey extractors that will enable easy honey
extraction from honeycombs have been installed at the project site which
would be used by Bee keepers within and outside the state.
He said the state has the potential to compete
with top honey producers in the world stressing
that state government has laid a
foundation by providing bee keeping facilities to help Beekeepers fulfill their potentials
He therefore called on Beekeeper from within
and outside the state to make full use of the facilities put in place by the
government to fulfill their destiny.
President of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI), Mr Bayo Ajibade appreciated the efforts and
facilities put in place by the government to boost honey production in the state.
Ajidebade commended the state government for
establishing a functional Apiary in the state and added that the apiculture in
Odo-otin has blossomed into an enviable citadel of apicultural studies.
Present at the workshop tagged “Phase II,
knowledge transfer initiative” were Special Advisers
to the Governor on Agric and food Security, Quick Impact Intervention, and
Federal and State Agric Directors, Agric officers and other participants (NAN)
