Auchi monarch seeks financial support to tackle COVID-19 hunger
The Otaru of Auchi Kingdom in Etsako West Local Government of Edo State, HRH Alhaji Aliru Momoh Ikelebe III is appealing to the Federal Government and well meaning Nigerians to come to the rescue of the vulnerable people in the community from hunger induced COVID-19 currently ravaging the world.
The monarch in statement made available to this blog on Thursday noted that for over a week now Auchi community has been on total lockdown and since majority of the people survive on daily earnings there is need for government to extend its palliative measures to these people to help cushion the resultant economic hardship.
The statement reads:
AN APPEAL TO HELP CUSHION THE EFFECTS OF COVID-19 ON THE MOST VULNERABLE IN AUCHI KINGDOM, EDO STATE, NIGERIA.
Peace of Allah, the Almighty be upon you and members of your household.
I wish to commiserate with you in this trying times where the dreaded covid-19 is ravaging the whole world with Nigeria and indeed Edo state geometrically taking its own share.
Auchi is on lock down just like it is across the globe to prevent the spread of the disease. One of the attendant effect of it, is economic hardship which, if not checked would give rise to Community distress like hunger and crimes.
Good number of Auchi people survive on daily earnings and as such would require some social intervention to survive the stay at home policy of the government.
The most vulnerables need to feed themselves and their families otherwise no one will be safe as the society will be the worst hit as we are now experiencing in some parts of the country like Lagos, Ogun etc.
Sequel to the above, I wish to make a passionate appeal to you to donate to AUCHI CHARITABLE FUND to help provide palliatives and social intervention for the most affected in Auchi society. We have a credible welfare committee set up by HRH Alhaji Aliru H Momoh, Ikelebe the III, Otaru of Auchi Sacred Kingdom to handle distribution of items to the needy in our society. We would ensure that the distribution of this items gets to the right persons.
We have given out palliatives to 500 widows and poor women in our society. But, there is the need to expand it, to reach as many people as possible. We are poised to work with group or individual donors.Thank you.
