Two Teenage Traffic Robbers nabbed in Ogun



The suspects were arrested in two separate operations on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway by men of the Ogun State Police Command.

Blessing Adedeji, was caught by the lens of eagle-eyed policemen attached to Ibafo Division on Monday, November 24, 2019, while on surveillance patrol of Magboro axis of the road

Salam Faruk, 18 and Sunday Okechukwu, 19 were arrested at about 9:30pm on Thursday, November 28, by policemen on joint patrol operation co-ordinated by the Area Commander, Owode-Egba, ACP Irimiya Asimiya.

The miscreants had cashed in on the logjam occasioned by the ongoing construction work on the  road to dispossess motorists of their valubles.

Crime Puzzle gathered that Blessing had successfully robbed one Monsurat Ologundudu of her Techno camon-12 phone, valued at #48,000 and a purse containing cash sum of #3,000.

On sighting the detectives, Blessing was said to had taken to his heels but could not go far before the operatives chased and caught up with him.

The two other teenage syndicate, Faruk and Sunday, were arrested by officers from the Owode-Egba Area Command, who were on foot patrol of the notorious long bridge.

The suspects, whose instrument of operation was a dagger knife with which they forced their victims to surrender their belongings, also bolted on sighting the policemen on foot patrol of the long bridge.

They were also nabbed before they could make good their bid to jump under the bridge.

On interrogation, the duo confessed to had left Lagos for that spot with the aim of robbing motorists held up in gridlocks.

Confirming the arrests, the Command's Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, stated in a press release made available to Crime Puzzle that the State Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS) for discreet investigation.

"The CP has also directed a 24-hr surveillance patrol of all highways across the State so as to checkmate the activities of hoodlums who might want to be disturbing innocent commuters", Oyeyemi said.
