Why some people are running away from their villages

You need to read this long post from Emeka Oparah. This will help you understand some of the mysterious misfortunes misfortunes and untimely death among our people, and reasons alot are running away from their villages and certain relatives

Brethren,

I do not intend to tarnish the sweet flavor of the word you heard in church today, but I sincerely want to call your attention to a most abhorrent and disturbing trend amongst those who claim to be Christians.

I have been keeping this image for more than  two years and while ruminating over the best way to expose it and tell the story behind it. Last night, I got the inspiration. Someone I know passed away after a protracted illness most of which was spent moving from churches to native doctors and finally a Teaching Hospital where he eventually died!

Now the photo: I visited a very popular Roman Catholic priest noted for his spiritual prowess which he deploys in exorcism, healing and conflict resolution. He moves from community to community conducting what he termed deliverance-to extricate the people from the bondage of Satan. I believe him. There’s too much “darkness” right there in the villages and communities.

After my visit, he showed me a heap of materials consisting of wooden carvings, mirrors, skulls, and all manner of dirty, scary stuff. He told me they were brought to him by Roman Catholics! According to him, there were three other heaps of similar stuff, which he’s kept for two reasons: to show people what others do in secret and to also illustrate the supremacy of God over Satan.

In actual fact, these items were surrendered by people who were scared they would be outed or even die, if they didn’t volunteer them before the Reverend Father closed the door for submission and impose a curse. Those who surrendered thee things include renowned  Christian fathers and mothers, Catechists, Knights, and members of the Parish Council. Some of them confessed they have been worshipping these idols from childhood.

Some said they used them to inflict all manners of afflictions including death on their enemies including family members and friends. One of the items, four little caskets bound together symbolized the killing of four brothers by their uncle, who was bitter his younger brother had some while he had only daughters! One said he used the “special” mirror to monitor and destroy the progress of one of her neighbor’s female children. They never marry and, if (when) they do, it never ends well-but it ends, and real quick too!

I shivered in extreme amazement and shock as I (personally) took this and other photos. Phew! What people do in secret! Wow!

Now here’s the thing: there’s no art to tell the mind’s construction in the face, as Shakespeare rightly said. So, you never know who among your friends, family, colleagues and business partners is fetish and can actually seek to harm you. I’m not yet asserting that they work or that they don’t but I’m very much aware that Satan has a lot of powers and even tried to tempt our Lord Jesus Christ, the son of God!

Probably, this explains why some people first seek alternative means of tackling issues including health challenges and disputes before going the orthodox route. Someone I tried to assist with a business proposal turned around and accused me of stealing the same idea and giving to a competitor to my employer. He actually demanded I followed him to a shrine to swear an oath to clear my name. This is someone who wears a huge crucifix on his neck and prays before meetings, meals, even kolanuts and peanuts!

You can’t serve two masters at the same time. It makes no sense. I have nothing against African Traditional Religion (ATR) but I have a BIG thing against using it to cause harm. I’m also against denouncing it in public while practicing it in secret.

My little education has, however, told me that a lot of good has been achieved via orthodox ways, modern religion and modern medicine. The aircraft is still a wonder! The cars! The mobile phones and other electronic devices. Google map and that woman who knows every street in the world and can tell you how to avoid traffic via faster routes!

This is yet another indication of hypocrisy, which has been trending since weekend. We must make our choices and stick by them. Religion is truly the opium of the people, as Karl Marx and his friend Fredrick Engels said. It gets more narcotic when it is mixed with dark and shady beliefs and practices.
