Head of Lagos Fire Service receives award
The Acting Head, Lagos State Fire Service, Mrs. Margaret Adeseye was over the weekend honoured with the Firefighters Appreciation Lifesaving Award by the 9JA Safe Award for Excellence Organisation and the Publisher of Safety Record Newspaper.
Speaking during the ceremony, Mrs. Adeseye expressed delight that the honour, which came barely three months after her appointment, is an affirmation of her resolve to continue to uplift the standard identified with the Lagos Fire Service.
She maintained that capability and a fireman's intellect play a great role in fire fighting activities, appreciating the State Government for appointing her the Head of an agency in a male-dominated profession.
While appreciating the organisers at the event held at Oriental Hotels, Victoria Island, Lagos, she said "I'm only following the footsteps of my predecessors who did not let the profession down by making Firefighters proud through their various activities, while at the same time keeping the Lagos Flag flying in the effective management of fire incidents".
Earlier, the Director, 9JA Safe Award Organisation, Alhaji Lateef Alebiosu congratulated Adeseye and noted that with the award, she joined the League of Fire Service Directors who received the award based on hard work and achievements in firefighting activities.
Alhaji Alebiosu also averred that the event, which is the fifth edition and maiden Fire Fighters Appreciation Dinner, recognises outstanding commitment of organisations, individuals/groups and professional institutions towards promoting and raising safety consciousness.
