Auchi Polytechnic shutdown over cult crisis

The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, Dr. Sanusi Jimoh has ordered the Immediate shutdown of the School activities due to Cult Clash in Auchi till Further Notice.

No fewer than 8 Students of the Polytechnic were feared killed in a cult clash between Aiye fraternity and the Vikings while others sustained various degree of injuries.

A source in the Polytechnic community who possesses knowlege of the crisis told this blog that masked gunmen had on Sunday evening stormed Sabo area of Auchi and killed the student-leader, of Aiye cult group, Irale Obas.

A reprisal attack led to the death of other victims at Powerline area of the community.

Residents of the area are currently in panick mode as they all bandoned their economic pursuit while shops and houses in the area are locked up.
Edo State Police Commissioner, Danmallam Mohammed who confirmed the development said about 58 persons had been arrested in connection with the incident.
