Police Avert Cult's Killing In Ogun Community, Arrest One
But for divine intervention, through sheer providence, Ogijo community in Ogun State would had, on July 24, 2019, been thrown into disarray and mourning, had God not used policemen to obstruct the wicked intentions of a cult group.
A three-man gang members of 'Aiye Confraternity', including the group's chief executioner, were riding on a Bajaj motorcycle, allegedly on a mission to attack and kill a member of a rival group when they ran into a police patrol team and made a detour, a move that heightened the operatives' suspicion of their identities and motive and consequently raced after them.
Their efforts yielded result with the arrest of one Biodun Adelokun, the group's executioner, from who a bag containing a locally-made cut-to-size pistol, a live cartridge, an axe and assorted charms were recovered.

Adelokun disclosed, during police interrogation, that the three of them were on a mission to kill a member of a rival group when they sighted the policemen and made bids to escape, adding that while the remaining two others actually succeeded in their escape bids, he was rather unlucky.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, "The suspect was arrested by policemen attached to Ogijo Division during a routine patrol with the DPO, CSP Muhammed Baba. The team accosted three men on Bajaj motorcycle with registration number KJA 778 QH at Fakale Road, Ogijo. On sighting the policemen, the three men took to their heels but were hotly chased by the policemen. The officers succeeded in arresting one of them with a bag. When the bag was searched, a locally made cut to size pistol, a live cartridge, an axe and assorted charms were recovered in it.
"On interrogation, the suspect confessed being a member of the dreaded Aiye cult group and the chief executioner of his group. He stated further that he was on his way with two others to eliminate a member of another cult group, who had been earmarked for execution by his own group before he was arrested by the DPO and his men", Oyeyemi stated in a press release made available to this reporter.
The PPRO further stated that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Bashir Makama, had ordered a massive manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang, while charging that the case should be thoroughly investigated.
