41,000 Benefited From GIS

Benin — More than 41,000 graduates have benefitted from the Graduate Internship Scheme (GIS) of the federal government in five years. The Project Director of GIS, Mr Dennis Chukwu, stated this, weekend, at the GIS career development and entrepreneurship skills straining for 40 interns in Benin. He said that the purpose of setting up the GIS was to enable unemployed graduates acquire employable skills, calling on the trainees to pay attention to the training so as to be useful to themselves and the society. The director, represented by Miss Ngozi Okwonko, said that more than 35,000 graduates have exited the scheme, with thousands of them securing jobs, adding that many others got credit facilities and grants (including YouWiN! Grant) to expand their businesses.
