Opinio: Why kidnapping in Kaduna won't stop now

The arrest and controversies surrounding the kidnapper kingpin Wadume might just be a little iceberg compared to the huge and thriving  business of Kidnappings in Kaduna state. This started way back after the 2015 elections, and we must state boldly that Kidnappings weren't known so much in the North prior to 2015 but has now thrived so well, and a majority of those involved are fulanis. Kaduna state seems to have housed them and given them a shelter and safe haven well after the Zamfara cattle rustling issues.

If you're a traveller along Kaduna-abuja highway, you will know your life is always and often at the point of survival by luck and sheer chance; same scenario applies to travellers along Birnin-gwari road; and of course same is true recently with Kaduna-kachia road, especially after the Kidnap and killing of the Agom-Adara (a first class chief), which afterward saw many kidnapped along same route.

Wherever and whenever ills in the society thrives, it is because there are highly placed individuals who serve as cover and shields to criminals. The amount of money being demanded for ransom tells a lot as to the kind of people involved and sponsoring such ills. There's someone in Kaduna more than the Taraba Wadume who is in charge of Kidnappings going on in the state.

Wadume had his link [so far known] exposed to the military. What happens if the kingpins of Kidnappings going on in Kaduna have there links and sponsorship from folks placed well above the military/security personnel? What happens if any of the legistlatives/executives are involved? What happens if the chief security officers are involved?

Wadume is said to have campaigned in the last election seeking for a legislative office. What happens if he had won such election? He presently wouldn't have been caught [maybe]; he might just as well have been enjoying some sort of immunity and become some of the 'untouchables'.

What if, those involved in the thriving business in Kaduna state enjoy some political offices and enjoy the immunity attached to it? So long! 4years has gone bye with little progress to stop the ills! The Kidnappings thrive on, even to the extent rail route have become the presumed safe options of travelling from Kaduna to Abuja.

Kaduna State has recorded more kidnappings than any other state in the federation. Various people are being kidnapped from their communities and houses. These and many more issues involving the kidnappings of pastors and church members still go on without having much media publicity. Someone powerful is behind these evil. The state should check its house well.

Indeed, "that which eats the beans lives inside the beans". That is the sad situation we all have found ourselves in this nation called Nigeria. The fulanis apparently are at war but the world hasn't risen to that reality yet. It is a multi facet war approach; Kidnappings is one of it just as genocidal killings remains part of it. Some executives have knowingly or unknowingly advanced the biddings of the Fulani in granting them colonies, rugas, and reserves from which they enjoy the execution of various ills to the Nigerian state.

Are our leaders even Nigerians? Why have our leaders so well, given so much to advance the course of strangers and strange men in our lands? May we see the Light so soon enough before the searchlights of evil men, kidnappers and their sponsors find us out from our safe havens. Amen!
