Edo @ 28: Edo will be great again- Sen. Alimikhena

As Edo State celebrate its 28th years of creation on August 27th 1991, the Senator representing Edo North Senator Francis Alimikhena has assured that the glory of the State as the social hub of Nigeria will again be restore based on the level of infrastructural development that is ongoing across the State. Edo was the social nerves center during Bendel State and Edo will take over again as a commercial, Social and tourist center in no distance time.


 Senator Francis Alimikhena expressed the need to build bridge of unity across ethnic divides. "Peace and Unity was a major factor that influence the creation of Edo and Delta State from the then Bendel State. It behooves on all of us to ensure that peace, Unity and prosperity reign in every nook and crannies of our dear State. Today, as we stand at the threshold of our state, we should all commit ourselves to the tasked of greater Edo State. We have the means, all we need is the resolve and the commitment


In a statement issued by his Special Assistant Benjamin Atu to mark the 28th anniversary of the State, the Chairman Senate Committee on Customs, Excise and Tarrif  Senator Francis Alimikhena said "This is a time for everyone to rededicate themselves to the cause of peace, development and good governance. We must resolve to avoid conflict that could jeopardize the socio - economic activities of government. He commended all former Governors of the State for their impact and contributions to the development of the state. He particularly prayed for former Governor Adams Oshiomhole for the infrastructural mileage he achieved and also expressed confidence that Governor Godwin Obaseki will exceed expectations as a veteran of the Oshiomhole's administration.


While congratulating the government and people of Edo State for the celebration of the  State Birthday, Senator  Francis Alimikhena admonished that, the marking of the state birthday should go beyond merriment but should be a veritable avenue for the nurturing of a good working relationship among various tiers of government. Our collective commitment to the development of our state should not be an option but fundamental importance.
He commended the giant strides of Governor Obaseki by coming out boldly to provide the enabling environment for prosperity through development of infrastructure, appropriate macro -economic and human welfare packages that has help to restore faith in government. He assured that better days are ahead and more is yet to be accomplish.
