AIG Lawal To CPs Lagos, Ogun: Protect Citizens With Diligence





To ensure adequate security during this year's Eid Kabir, Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in-charge of Zone 2 Police Command, Lagos, has called on the commissioners of police (CPs) in the Zone, Lagos and Ogun states, to be proactive and live up to the their statutory responsibility of protecting lives and property of the citizenry.

Lawal made this call through the Command's spokesperson (ZPPRO), DSP Hauwa Idris-Adamu, in a press statement made available to Crime Puzzle.

On his own part, the AIG has deployed special units of the Anti Kidnapping (AKU), Rapid Response Squad (RRS), States/Zonal Intelligence Bureau (SIB/ZIB), Quick Intervention Unit (QIU), Explosive Ordinance Disposer (EOD) and the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS), around relaxation centres, amusement and motor parks, shopping malls, recreation centres, both in remote and rural areas.


Also deployed for the special duty are operatives of the Counter Terrorists Unit (CTU), Police Mobile Force (PMF), Special Protection Unit (SPU), Safer Highway and all Patrol and Guard Officers.

While wishing Moslem faithful a happy celebration, the AIG reiterated his commitment to duties and ensuring a Nigeria Police of dream, and advised members of the public to go about their lawful businesses and celebrate the yuletide without any fear of molestation / attack, as adequate security measures had been put in place to hamper any ugly occurrences.

In the same vein, the Ogun State Police Command said it has strategically deployed large scale and elaborate tactical as well as covert policemen across the length and breadth of the state, with a clear mandate of ensuring a crime-free Sallah celebration.

According to a press release by the Command's Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, "The Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama, has deployed men of special units such as SARS, PMF, Tactical Intelligence units, Anti Kidnapping and Cultism sections to nip in the bud any violent crimes that might want to rear their ugly heads.

"24hrs surveillance patrols have also been ordered around the various praying ground as well as event/recreation centers across the State. All our highway such as the Lagos-Ibadan Express Road, Benin-Sagamu-Ore, Lagos-Abeokuta Express Road and other highways are been properly patrolled", the statement added.
