Puff Adder: Police gun down one armed robber



Men of the Operation Puff Adder, attached to the Rano Area Command, Kano, at about 03:40am on Friday, July 26, 2019, received a distress call on the activities of armed robbery syndicate, to the effect that they were attacking a residence in Rano town.

The gang of notorious armed robbers whose incessant attacks on residents of Rano, Kibiya, Bunkure and Tudun Wada, all along Falgore Forest axis in Kano State, were put to check by detectives of the Operation Puff Adder.

In a press release made available to Strategic Mefia, the Command's Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abdullahi Haruna, said: "The team immediately rushed to the scene, where they engaged the armed robbers in a gun duel. Luck ran against the hoodlums when the Puff-Adder operatives, with superior gun fire, gunned down one of them, while the remaining three escaped into the nearby thick forest.

"On a hot chase, as the policemen were retreating, they stumbled on a locally made pistol with three rounds of live cartridges, abandoned by the robbers", the PPRO stated.

According to the statement, the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, had directed that "the three fleeing suspects be timely tracked, identified, arrested and any exhibit(s) or arms in their possession be recovered", even as he (CP) called on good citizens of the State to continue cooperating with the Police for timely and prompt rendition of information and intelligence on any form of crime and criminality across the length and breadth of the State, for quick and timely response.
