IMSU Election committee for 17the Republic inaugurated



The forthcoming Imo State University (IMSU) Student Union Government (SUG) election has been given a major boost with the inauguration of the electoral team by 12noon today, dousing growing insinuations that the forthcoming SUG polls may not hold.

Duru Victor reports that, the inauguration of the SUG Students Electoral Commission (SEC) held today following the Student Affairs Division, led by the Dean Student Affairs, Prof. Martins Uchenna courtesy call to the Vice Chancellor earlier today at her Owerri office.

The presentation of the SUG SEC at University Boardroom had in attendance principal officers of the university namely the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics Prof. Nkwam Uwaoma, Ag. Registrar Mrs. Rose-Kate Ogbu, University Librarian, University Public Relations Officer as well as Faculty Staff Advisers from the various faculties in IMSU.

The Vice Chancellor Prof. (Mrs.) Victoria Adaobi Obasi - who bemoaned the lack of a female in the SUG SEC - while receiving the Student Affairs and SUG SEC representatives delegation expressed her readiness to ensuring that IMSU SUG is returned.

She also expressed confidence in the ability of the Student Affairs Division and the SUG SEC representatives towards ensuring the conduct of a peaceful poll.

Consequently, the inauguration proper went down at the Office of the Dean Student Affairs by some minutes past the hour of 1.

The Dean Student Affairs, Prof. Martins Uchenna who received the SUG SEC from SUG Staff Adviser representative Dr. Anyaoha of the Faculty of Agriculture, charged members of the SUG SEC to be independent, unbiased and fair in all their dealings.
