Iheanacho speaks up after scoring 3 goals in 2 games for Leicester

Nigeria Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho, found the net twice during Saturday’s 2-2 friendly draw at Rotherham United at New York Stadium following his maiden summer goal at Cambridge United on Tuesday.

City’s top goalscorer in pre-season is excited to get the new 2019/20 season underway and is determined to continue working hard on the training pitches.  Speaking to LCFC TV in South Yorkshire, he said: “I’m delighted, I’m happy. Getting two goals today… I’ll hopefully take that into the season.”

A ‘delighted’ Kelechi Iheanacho believes a productive pre-season for Leicester City is establishing stable foundations for a successful Premier League campaign. “We are pleased today. I think we played really well. We all needed 90 minutes and we played really well.”

“We gave away two goals, but I think everyone did their best over the 90 minutes so we’ll get back and see how we’re going to work on training and improve.”

The strength in depth within Leicester’s first team squad is another reason to approach the new season with a sense of optimism, Iheanacho says.

“I think we have a big squad now with so many players, good footballers, so everyone is competing, everyone is fighting for their place, so I think we’ll see how it goes,” he added.

“At the end of the day, the manager will pick who he thinks deserves the opportunity. I think everyone is happy and I think we have a great manager.
