Just In: Edo Catholic Priest kidnapped



Information just reaching this blog has it that one Rev. Fr. Isaac Agabi, a Priest in charge of Holy Name Catholic church, Ikpeshi in Akoko Edo local government area of Edo State has been kidnapped.

According to a source in the locality, Rev. Fr. Isaac was kidnapped yesterday evening 16th June, 2019, along Auchi-Igarra road at about 5.00pm on his way to Igarra to see the head of the Deanery who just returned from abroad.
He was abducted alongside a Seminarian and was immediately taken into the forest by his abductors who abandoned his car on the highway.
The Bishop of the Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Gabriel Dunia who confirmed the incident said the kidnappers have contacted the Church for a ransom but disclosed that the Church does not pay ransom and want the Priest to be released unconditionally.
Meanwhile, the Diocese has held a Holy Spirit mass for the release of the Priest.
