NYSC DG condenms killing of Corps members
NYSC Director-General, Major General Sulaiman Kazaure has expressed his displeasure on the recent killing of two Corps Members in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital.
He made this known today during a courtesy visit to the State Governor, Henry Seriake Dickson at the Government House in Yenagoa.
The duo of Popoola Oluwatobi Olamide and George Onokpoma were shot dead by unknown gunmen at their residence few days ago.
The DG, who condemned the dastardly act called on all Nigerians to work towards providing adequate security for Corps Members at all time.
He also used the opportunity to appeal to the Governor to review the security situation in the Corps Lodges across the State.
"There is need to ensure and guarantee adequate security for Corps Members during the service year because Corps Members are national assets on national assignments"
Kazaure however commended the Governor for upward review of Corps Members' allowances in the state.
Seriake Dickson in his response condoled with the NYSC Scheme over the death of the two Corps Members.
He disclosed that special communication lines that can be used in distressed situations have been created for all Corps Members in the state which is directly connected to the security command and control centre.
He promised that Government would not condone any act of brigandage in any part of the state
The Governor added that efforts are on going towards providng a befitting Secretariat and Orientation Camp for NYSC Scheme in the state.
