APCNationalConvention: Gov. Shettima holds high level talks
In the build up to APC convention,now being concluded, Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State on Saturday intensified series of high level talks which, like the efforts of fellow party men, contributed to the successful outing of the party and it's Unity.
After meetings with Borno's party stakeholders and delegates, Governor Shettima hosted at the Borno lodge, Kaduna State Governor, Mal. Nasir El-Rufai, his Deputy and other senior government officials, the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, the Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Hadiza Bala Usman for important consultations.
The Convention affirmed former Governor Adams Oshiohmole as the National Chairman, and 19 other officers, while some offices had to go to the ballot.
President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo were among the over 6000 All Progressives Congress (APC) delegates from the 36 states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) who converged in Eagle Square to elect the party’s new national officers.
The Senate President, Sen. Bukola Saraki, Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, APC outgoing National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun and Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, Governors, and Ministers et al were also present.
Governor Shettima has since voted, like other party leaders and members. Results are currently being collated for announcements.
