CBT: A Panacea to Exam Malpractice
The Director of Special Duties, Auchi Polytechnic, Dr F I. Ogege on Friday said the only solution to examination malpractice is the Computer Based Test. According to him, the CBT can easily be monitored by the examiners and nip in the bud exam fraud.
He noted that the internet is crucial to the advancement and development of education in Nigeria as it has brought a lot of innovation not only to teaching and learning ; but also to other areas like security, data gathering and filtering financial systems, communication system and has made us to perform our business with ease and speed.
He spoke at a two-day workshop tagged: "Computer Based Test: An Effective and Efficient Tool for Learning and Examination organised by Step B in the Institution. According to him, Computer Based Test is part of the innovation technology that emanated through the use of the internet adding that the collaboration and efficiency we need in teaching, learning and examinations can best be done through the Computer Based Examination. This he said, will help to do away with the burden of paper work, delay in result, information manipulation and cheating during examination.
He, however, stated that trained personnel in the use of computer is needed to actualize the noble invention in technology, synergy between the institution and industries in the design and implementation of Computer Based Examination.
