Recession: An Opportunity to Bring out the Best in Nigerians- Mallam Alli

A former special adviser to the Edo State government on education, Mallam Ali Suleiman has said that the current economic Challenges facing the country should serve as an incentive to bringing out the creative and innovative abilities in Nigerians, stressing that the solutions require the concerted effort of all.
Mallam Alli spoke on Saturday at the formal inauguration of the Association of Model Islamic Schools (AMIS), Edo State Chapter, holding at Hira Comprehensive College, Iyakpi, South Ibie Edo North Senatorial District. In an interview with journalists after the event, he disclosed that it is the determination of the Edo North Islamic scholars to ensure more participation in the objectives of (AMIS) especially improvement in the Almajiri's education and the harmonisation of the Western and Islamic education in the curriculum. Earlier, the Chairman of the Association Edo North chapter, Dr. Tijani Oseni told the participants at the event that the Islamization of knowledge is the driving force behind AMIS and the challenges of Muslim parents giving their children knowledge without missing out on the general knowledge is what AMIS comes to address. He urged Muslim proprietors and educationists in the state to embrace this noble course and register with the Association.
The Chairman said: "The inauguration of AMIS, Edo State Chapter is a huge achievement for Muslims in Edo State. Rather than Muslim schools in the state having mutual rivalry and distrust among themselves, they are now determined to work together for the common good of the Muslim ummah." The event featured essay writing, khutbah presentation, exhibition of art works and inter-school quiz competition among Students in Edo North senatorial district as participants tried their level best to emerge the best. At the end, Hira Comprehensive College emerged overall best in the competition. The management of the school distributed prizes and certificates among the winner team as well as the runner ups. A participant at the event told this blog that the exhibition was timely as it helped them to sharpen their intelligence.
