Calm Returns to Auchi Polytechnic as Lecturers Call off Strike

Lecturers at the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi and non-academic
staff have suspended their indefinite strike embarked on about two weeks ago.
The workers, Strategic Media learnt agreed to resume work
today after a meeting with the institution management yesterday.
When this reporter visited the school premises to ascertain
the veracity of the story, students were seen in groups discussing the matter.
A student in the department of Hospitality Management who
does not want her name published told this medium that:
“I am happy I did not waste money and resources travelling
home. I stayed behind when my friends travelled in anticipation that the
indefinite strike would not last long.”
Also lecturers were seen in their various offices as lecture
halls and offices have re-opened.
In the meantime, engineer Jafaru Braimoh has been appointed
as the acting rector for the polytechnic.
Until his appointment, Braimah was a Deputy Rector, Academics
in the school. He takes over from Dr. (Mrs) Philipa Idogho whose tenure expires
this February.
